Manchester is an old manufacturing and mill city. It is full of old buildings that were part of the industrial engine of Britain. During my first year in Manchester I lived in a 200-yeaer-old cotton mill with views out over the Pennines, Manchester City Ethiad Stadium, boarded up mills, and “lovely” council towers. Canals were used extensively in the North and Midlands as a way of transporting raw materials and manufactured goods.
One day in April 2012, I decided to explore one of the many canals in the heart of Manchester. These are some pictures of the sights along that canal.
